In 2015, feeling dismissed as a Dominican American writer in many literary spaces, Angela Abreu founded Dominican Writers Association, a non-profit organization and platform dedicated to supporting and promoting the works by creative writers of Dominican descent in the genres of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. Their mission is to provide writers and community members with the tools and resources to continue developing their craft and reach the heights of the literary canon.
